Making Autonomous Vehicles Safe with Simulation

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and fully autonomous vehicles (AVs) are being actively developed across the world with the promise of reducing traffic fatalities, freeing up commute times and reducing traffic congestion. Before viable AVs can be brought to market, they must be demonstrated to be safe under a very wide range of conditions and scenarios that span lighting conditions, traffic patterns, weather, pedestrian behavior, road surface variations and more. This task is impossible with road testing alone; simulation is necessary for thorough, timely validation.

This webinar will detail how Ansys high-fidelity, physics-based simulations are being used to develop many aspects of AVs including radar, lidar, camera and ultrasonic sensors, as well as electronics and semiconductors. Full closed-loop simulation with software-in-the-loop (SIL) as well as hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) scenarios will be covered. Ansys experts will also discuss model-based software development methods with certified automatic code generation, functional safety analysis and cybersecurity analysis methods and tools.
