Variable Material Data for a Race Car Nose in Composites

Overview

This workshop will demonstrate a workflow for composite analyses with variable material data such as ACP draping simulation, temperature dependence, and user-defined variable material data for simulating incomplete curing of the composite material in the model.

Prerequisites

  • Introduction to Ansys Composite PrepPost (ACP)
  • Advanced Course of Draping is beneficial but not mandatory.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand the Ansys Workbench workflow to account for variation in material properties and their dependencies.
  • Create the variable material in dependence from Field Variables such as degradation, temperature or shear angle distortion from draping.
  • Use the ACP Look-Up-Tables and relate these to a Field Definition.
  • Apply the variable material fields to the modelling plies finite element model.
  • Review the model with respect to material data variation.
  • Run the simulation model and postprocess in Mechanical.

Agenda

This course is not intended to be scheduled and will not be delivered as a virtual class.

The approximate time estimated for completion of this workshop is 1-hour.

Topics Covered:

  • Variable Material Data
