Delamination in Composites

Overview

This workshop concentrates on the workflow of using interface layers created in ACP in conjunction with a cohesive zone material model. It will explain how to set up an interface separation between two different plies of a laminate.

Prerequisites

  • Introduction to Ansys Composite PrepPost (ACP)

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand the Ansys Workbench workflow to account for delamination evolution with composite models.
  • Create a cohesive zone material model.
  • Define the Interface Layer in ACP to account for the anticipated delamination area.
  • Set up the related Pre meshed Crack in Mechanical.
  • Set up the related Interface Delamination properties.
  • Solve the model and postprocess displacement results over time.
  • Review the reaction force response in relation to applied boundary conditions.

Agenda

This course is not intended to be scheduled and will not be delivered as a virtual class.

The approximate time estimated for completion of this workshop is 1-hour.

Topics Covered:

  • Delamination
