Ansys Discovery for FEA Geometry Preparation Getting Started (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

This course is designed for FEA new users of Ansys Discovery; users who don’t know how to use Ansys SpaceClaim.  Ansys Discovery is the combination of interactive geometry modeling like SpaceClaim, along with instant GPU simulation and high fidelity physics in a single interface.  Improvements to the user experience and modeling architecture make it easier, faster and more robust than ever before. In this course You will learn and achieve an understanding of the main tools in Discovery to create a geometry from scratch or to clean up and prepare an imported geometry for an FEA modelling using Ansys Mechanical. You will also learn how to create named selections and parameters and how to import them to Ansys Workbench.

Prerequisites

  • This course is an introductory course to Ansys Discovery for FEA users, no specific prerequisites are requested.

Target Audience

Engineers and Designers who want to import CAD and prepare for a FEA simulation or create CAD from scratch to start first level and second level simulation within the same interface.

Teaching Method

Lectures and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Discover the Ansys Discovery user interface.
  • Create Named Selections and parameters in Ansys Discovery.
  • Create mid-surfaces from a volume.
  • Create Beams and assign cross sections to them.
  • Import the geometry to Ansys Workbench with the Named Selections and the Parameters.
  • Create a new geometry from scratch in Ansys Discovery.
  • Discover the Ansys Discovery main tools: Pull, Move, Fill and combine.
  • Repair an imported geometry in Ansys Discovery.
