Ansys Composite
Cure Simulation

Course Overview

The Ansys Composite Cure Simulation (ACCS) allows you to simulate the thermal-chemical reaction and to predict the development of residual stresses as well as process induced distortions during the curing of composite parts. The main focus is on composite manufacturing yet the same principles apply to the curing of unreinforced thermosetting polymers.
This course introduces the capabilities of ACCS and shows how it can be used in the Ansys Workbench environment.

Prerequisites

Teaching Method

The learning is based on the completion of a workshop

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of cure simulation
  • Understand how ACCS is integrated in Ansys Workbench
  • Understand what material properties are required for a cure simulation
  • Know how to set up a transient thermal analysis to calculate the development of cure.
  • Know how to set up a static structural analysis to calculate the residual stresses based on the thermal cure simulation
  • Understand how to mimic the demolding step and how to invert distorted parts
