Ansys RedHawk-SC Electrothermal for Interposer Power Integrity Analysis

Course Overview

The Ansys RedHawk-SC Electrothermal tool employs the RedHawk-SC extraction engine for high-capacity power integrity analysis with elastic compute technology.

In this course you will learn the Ansys interposer power integrity flow within RedHawk-SC Electrothermal. You will be introduced to the best-known methodologies for a large interposer PDN extraction taking into account Through Silicon Vias (TSV) and embedded Deep Trench Capacitors (eDTC). You will also learn to address fast GDSII conversion flow into DEF/LEF files and, Chip-level frequency-dependent RLCG parasitic generation and Full PDN CPM stitching for system PI simulation. A hands-on lab will accompany the training.

Prerequisites

  • A basic understanding of interposer layout design and PDN analysis and, circuit SPICE model is desirable to benefit from this course.

Teaching Method

Self-paced slide presentation and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge. Emphasis is placed on tool background & methodology as well as workshops.

Learning Outcomes

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • List the sequence of steps needed for interposer extraction flow in RedHawk-SC Electrothermal.
  • GUI usage of the tool such as create and/or restore a saved session, flow setup and result review.
  • Convert the GDSII/OASIS layout file to DEF/LEF file format.
  • Understand the structure of TSV and eDTC model and how to include it in the final model.
  • Analyze the impedance profile and bump voltage drop for the interposer or the entire system PDN.
