Ansys RaptorX: Introduction to Ansys Silicon-Optimized Electromagnetic Solver (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

This course will guide you by example to the fundamentals of RaptorX electromagnetic solver within a traditional IC design platform. The course will explain the basic RaptorX UI settings, and a step-by-step procedure to obtain electromagnetic models capturing accurately all electromagnetic interactions in IC designs for any combination of passive devices (spirals, MiM/MoM capacitors), arbitrary routing, planes (solid or perforated) and more.

Prerequisites

  • Have a basic understanding of custom IC design flows and electromagnetics.
  • Have some general familiarity with electromagnetic solvers.
  • No prior RaptorX knowledge or experience is needed to attend this workshop.

Teaching Method

Slide presentation and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of the course, users should be able to:

  • Understand the importance of electromagnetic modeling.
  • Understand how RaptorX supports foundry tech files.
  • Use RaptorX flow to extract electromagnetic models by selecting any combination of passive circuitry in the GDS or layout.
  • Use Extraction Mode and/or Max Frequency of Interest on the RaptorX UI to define the granularity/complexity of the layout mesh.
  • Understand the impact of the mesh complexity on the RaptorX outputs.
  • Navigate among different RaptorX outputs.
