Course Overview

This self-paced course will walk users through the Structural, Thermal Analysis & Results (STAR) module, which is used to incorporate finite element analysis datasets in an optical model. It is assumed that users have familiarity with OpticStudio’s Sequential and Non-Sequential modes of operation and analysis features prior to taking this course.Prerequisites

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Generate datasets of absorbed optical power within an optical design.
  • Understand syntax required for an FEA-generated dataset to use with STAR.
  • Incorporate FEA datasets into ray tracing simulations via STAR.
  • Analyze the optical design’s updated performance with structural & thermal deformation data to understand system sensitivities.
