Simulating Proton-Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells using Non-Conformal Interfaces in Ansys Fluent (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

This workshop provides a step-by-step approach to pre-process, setup, run and post-process a detailed 3D CFD simulation for a single Proton-Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) using non-conformal interface approach in Ansys Fluent.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure Ansys SpaceClaim 2023R1 and Ansys Fluent 2023R1 have been correctly installed.
  • Completion of Ansys Fluent Getting Started: Basics and Introduction to Ansys SpaceClaim for CFD  is required.

Target Audience

Engineers who want to simulate PEM Fuel Cells.

Teaching Method

Workshop with input files.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Calculate the polarization curve for the fuel cell.
  • Visualize the hydrogen distribution, liquid saturation and the current density contours.
  •  Calculate the percent utilization of hydrogen and oxygen.
