Introduction to Ansys Thermal Desktop Software (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

It is recommended you take the courses in sequential order:

  • Thermal Desktop and User Interface.
  • Model Building and Physics.
  • Model Customization and Modeling Tools.

This course will introduce you to the usage of Thermal Desktop software and provide practice building models including interpreting results using Thermal Desktop as a stand-alone analysis environment.

Teaching Method

Lectures, incorporating teaching by software demonstration, and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand and use the Ansys Thermal Desktop user interface.
  • Create or reuse thermophysical properties.
  • Build a thermal model using Ansys Thermal Desktop software.
  • Create thermal connections such as conductors or contactors between objects in the thermal model.
  • Apply heat loads and heaters.
  • Run solutions and postprocess the results.
  • Add parameters and simple customization to the model and solution.
  • Map temperature results to a structural model.
