Getting Started with Fault-Tolerant Meshing Workflow in Ansys Fluent Software

Course Overview

This course comprises of eight lessons supported with hands-on exercises and advanced workshops, which will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the various tasks and features of the Fault-tolerant Meshing Workflow (FTM). The FTM workflow is designed to simplify and expedite the meshing process, especially for complex geometry, by enabling the creation of volume meshes directly from dirty CAD.

Prerequisites

A general awareness of the process of meshing using Ansys Fluent software is an advantage.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the purpose, and advantages of the Fault-tolerant Meshing Workflow.
  • Import CAD geometry into the Fault-tolerant Meshing Workflow and manage geometric components.
  • Effectively describe geometry and flow within the geometry being analyzed.
  • Identify regions within the geometry, handle leakages and update the settings of identified regions.
  • Choose appropriate mesh control options and apply local sizing controls to generate and refine the mesh.
  • Generate surface meshes, identify deviated surfaces, and update boundaries for efficient fluid flow simulations.
  • Add boundary layers and understand their importance in accurately capturing fluid flow near walls.
  • Generate the volume mesh using the appropriate steps, perform post volume mesh operations, and evaluate the quality of a volume mesh.
  • Use the Fault-tolerant Meshing Workflow in Ansys Fluent software to create high quality CFD simulation meshes from faulty CAD geometry
