Ansys Thermal Desktop: Getting Started

Course Overview

This course will introduce you to the Thermal Desktop user interface and describe the steps to create and run a model.

Prerequisites

  • A technical education and background in fluid mechanics and heat transfer is recommended but not mandatory.  An engineering degree is not required.

Teaching Method

Lectures, incorporating teaching by software demonstration, and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Navigate the user interface.
  • Build a basic model.
  • Define properties, thermal connections and boundary conditons.
  • Define environmental heating.
  • Articulate geometry.
  • Solve and postprocess.
  • Define radiation modeling, and single-phase fluid modeling.
  • Set partially filled fluid vessels, and heat pipes.
