Ansys Fluent Getting Started: Basics
(Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

Ansys Fluent Getting Started: Basics is the first part of a two-part sequence of training courses for new users of Ansys Fluent.  This course teaches the essential skills you will need to start performing basic computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations on your own using Ansys Fluent software.  Instructor demos and hands-on workshops cover every aspect of the end-to-end CFD workflow, including how to perform the entire meshing and solution process in the single-window Ansys Fluent user interface using the task-based, guided workflow for meshing imported, watertight CAD geometry.

Prerequisites

  • A technical education and background in fluid mechanics and heat transfer is recommended but not mandatory.  An engineering degree is not required.

Target Audience

  • Individuals interested in developing skills for performing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
  • Undergraduate and graduate students, and researchers in STEM.
  • Professionals in industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, and biomedical.

Teaching Method

Lectures, incorporating teaching by software demonstration, and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge. An emphasis is placed on following the complete single-window workflow in Ansys Fluent from geometry import through post-processing in all exercises.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Prepare CAD geometry necessary for the CFD simulation by employing the easy-to-use Ansys Discovery modeling software.
  • Use the Watertight Geometry Meshing Workflow in Ansys Fluent to create high quality CFD Simulation meshes from imported CAD geometry through a succession of intuitive guided workflow tasks.
  • Independently set up and complete a basic CFD simulation in Ansys Fluent including defining the problem, calculating the solution and post-processing the results.
  • Perform all steps of a CFD simulation from meshing to solution to analyzing results within the same single window Ansys Fluent environment.
