Ansys Fluent Beyond the Basics (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

Ansys Fluent Beyond the Basics is the second part of a two-part sequence of training courses for new users of Ansys Fluent.  Upon completion of the first part, Ansys Fluent Getting Started: Basics, students will be able to independently perform their own basic Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses, from start to finish.  In this second part, students are taught to extend their knowledge and skills beyond basic workflow competency, including how to use best practices for performing accurate simulations, how to amplify CFD usage through parametric studies and how to perform more sophisticated simulations of turbulent flow, heat transfer and transient flows. 

All workshops begin with the import of a CAD model into Fluent and proceed through the entire single window workflow process of meshing, solving and postprocessing. 

Prerequisites

  • A technical education and background in fluid mechanics and heat transfer is recommended but not mandatory.  An engineering degree is not required.

  • Completion of Ansys Fluent Getting Started: Basics is required

Target Audience

Fluids Engineers, Combustion Engineers, Thermal Engineers and Aerodynamics Engineers.

Teaching Method

Lectures, incorporating teaching by software demonstration, and computer practical sessions to validate acquired knowledge. An emphasis is placed on following the complete single-window workflow in Ansys Fluent from geometry import through post-processing in all exercises.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Set up and execute CFD simulations in a manner that limits errors associated with numerical CFD simulations.
  • Employ parameters in Ansys Fluent and Ansys SpaceClaim to automate the investigation of multiple design alternatives and generate data for optimization studies.
  • Set up and execute transient CFD simulations.
  • Perform increasingly sophisticated simulations involving heat transfer and turbulent flow.
