Introduction to Ansys Maxwell: Magnetostatic Simulation (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

This course introduces the Ansys Maxwell simulation software tool by reviewing the basic concept of an electromagnetic fail-safe brake (EMB) system. During this course we will create and analyze both a 3D and 2D model of an EMB system using a DC magnetostatic solver in Maxwell. All the necessary steps required to perform a Maxwell simulation will be discussed.

Prerequisites

  • Basic Electromagnetics experience is required.

Teaching Method

This is a self-paced course.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the AEDT user interface
  • Understand the concept of an electromagnetic fail-safe brake (EMB)
  • Analyze a 3D and 2D model of an EMB system using a DC magnetostatic solver in Maxwell.
  • Learn how to use variables to setup a parametric analysis and visualize the variations in the output results for a defined input variable range.
