Ansys HFSS EMI EMC CISPR25 (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

The Ansys EMIEMC CISPR25 course starts with HFSS EM blocks brought into AEDT Circuit for conducted emissions (CE), in workshops WS1 and WS2.  To support these workshops there are two videos in module 1 describing how to edit AEDT Circuit schematic symbols and how to place and connect schematic elements.  Levels of abstraction include simulating PCB detail, in HFSS 3D Layout, in a simulation that also includes the entire chamber (WS3).  The biconical antenna for sensing the radiated emissions can be explicitly modeled in a chamber simulation, or a short line can be used sense the radiation without simulating the entire antenna hardware.  Another workflow, in module 4, uses the near fields of an SIwave detailed PCB simulation, to represent the PCB radiation in a CISPR25 chamber radiated emissions simulation.

Prerequisites

  • Ansys HFSS Getting Started
  • Familiarity with emissions testing and the CISPR25 2008 specification.
  • Working knowledge of HFSS 3D Layout is helpful for WS2.
  • Working knowledge of SIwave is important for WS4.1 and WS4.2

Teaching Method

This self-paced course uses short video tutorials and training materials to guide you through each problem.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Edit schematic symbols, generated by EM blocks brought into Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) Circuit, including size, graphic, and pin configuration.
  • Set up HFSS and SIwave EM blocks in circuit schematics and drive with transient signals.
  • Set up workflows with a combination of products, like SIwave, HFSS 3D Layout, HFSS fully arbitrary 3D (FA3D), and AEDT Circuit.
  • Set up PCB (printed circuit board) field simulations directly from the PCB or indirectly from the near fields generated by the PCB.
  • Generate frequency field reports of voltage measured at antennas, with both simulated antenna hardware and with simple sensing objects.
  • Import CISPR 2008 standard templates to overlay on plots.
  • Know how PCB field behaviors can be simulated with CISPR chamber rooms that include EM absorbers.
