Scripting in Ansys Discovery (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

This course will cover the basics of core scripting skills to get you started with Scripting with Ansys Discovery. Scripting can enable you to implement your own commands, manage highly parametric models, and reuse setup in a new model. Scripting can also be used to automate tedious manual workflows or repetitive tasks. Scripting in Ansys Discovery is possible through the Script Editor interface. Ansys Discovery scripting can be used for accessing external data and exporting CAD files in different formats. 

Python is the scripting language used in Ansys Discovery.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of Introduction to Python
  • Knowledge of geometry preparation in Ansys Discovery required

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to: 

  • Use scripting capabilities in Ansys Discovery.
  • Apply basic functionalities of Python language that will help you in developing scripts in Ansys Discovery. 
  • Implement the Record feature to record operations relating to geometry handling. 
  • Access different objects in Ansys Discovery, select entities by their names, or by named selections.  
  • Script commands associated with geometry creation and the movement and position of created objects.
  • Acquire the knowledge on accessing groups, getting, and modifying the value of driving dimensions, creating, and editing script parameters, and accessing the units of script parameters. 
  • Create a script that constructs geometry and parameterizes dimensions.
