Modeling of flows within systems containing moving components is often accomplished using moving reference frames. ANSYS CFD provides many options for employing moving reference frames for both translating and rotating systems. Applications are numerous, and include turbomachinery, mixing equipment, electric motors and generators, land and air vehicle motions.

In this Ask The Experts webinar, the basic modeling approaches for using moving reference frames in ANSYS CFD will be discussed. This will include steady-state approaches such as the single reference frames, multiple references frame (MRF), and mixing planes, and unsteady approaches such as transient blade row (TBR), embedded reference frames and accelerating reference frames.
