Metamodels of Optimal Prognosis for EMC on Automotive Cables

The electrification of vehicles is an effort by manufacturers to help safeguard the environment. Demand for electric and hybrid vehicles is growing, and the manufacturing of electric vehicles is more complicated than their traditional gas counterparts. The complexity of cable harnesses required to connect subsystems creates particular design challenges with regard to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues. This document details how metamodeling techniques can be applied to the design, optimization, and assessment of harnesses for automotive applications. While this discussion focuses on the automotive sector, it can also be applied to harness design in many other applications, such as consumer electronics and aerospace and defense.
