Flow around an airfoil with Ansys Fluent

Airfoils are solid bodies (for example aircraft wings, turbine blades etc.), manufactured in such a way that air flowing around them produces useful motion This case study deals with air flow around a cambered airfoil. The determination of aerodynamic forces depends on the flow field characteristics such as velocity and pressure which can be experimentally measured or numerically obtained. In this case study, the aerodynamic performance of the NACA 4412 airfoil is analyzed through the lift and drag coefficients at different angles of attack. Results from numerical simulations are compared with available experimental data. The case study also captures and discusses physical phenomena. This resource was created in collaboration with Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje as part of the Ansys Funded Curriculum Program.
