The global COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people and companies around the world. This has caused many industries to be severely limited due to transmission risks. The virus spreads through three primary routes: airborne particles, droplets from a cough or sneeze and touching an infected surface. Although HVAC guidelines and standards may provide minimum flowrates, required pressure offsets and recommended locations for placement of supply/exhaust grilles and diffusers, simulation enables designers and engineers to explore tradeoffs and optimize designs. Factories, hospitals and other public spaces must consider a variety of strategies to mitigate the spread of this airborne disease to help us return to normal daily routines.
