Ansys EMC/EMI: Shielding Effectiveness (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

The Ansys EMI/EMC Shielding Effectiveness course explores topics such as SpaceClaim-HFSS linkage, field data extraction inside and outside of the shield structure, modeling incident wave, defining Near field data and emission report, and resonance modes generated by shielding cavity. This course is designed for intermediate-advanced users and includes three workshops that demonstrate the shielding test workflow from start to finish.

Prerequisites

  • Prior knowledge of Ansys HFSS design, boundary conditions, excitations, analysis setup and relevant parameters including field quantities are required.

Teaching Method

Hands-on simulation workshop to develop productive skill in EM Pulse transient analysis using HFSS. The simulation workshop is self-explanatory and easy to follow for independent learners.  

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Link the SpaceClaim model to HFSS.
  • Set up an incident plane wave and monitor the fields both outside and inside the shielding structure.
  • Set up an incident cylindrical wave.
  • Define near field monitoring sphere and plot the fields on that sphere.
  • Plot emission report and compare it with near field report.
  • Define the Eigenmode solution type and analysis setup.
  • Generate the eigenmode report and plot the fields and resonance modes.
