Ansys EMC/EMI: Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

The Ansys EMI/EMC Electrostatic Discharge course explores the topic of unwanted currents that may result in damage to electronic equipment from an ESD Gun source. This course is designed for intermediate-advanced users and includes one workshop that demonstrates two methods of HFSS Transient, and HFSS frequency domain solution combined with the Circuit transient solver to perform Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) analysis on a board from start to finish.

Prerequisites

  • Prior knowledge of Ansys HFSS design, solution types, boundary conditions, excitations, analysis setup and relevant parameters including transient data quantities are required.
  • Knowledge of Circuit design and Nexxim transient solver are required.

Teaching Method

Hands-on simulation workshop to develop productive skill in EM Pulse transient analysis using HFSS. The simulation workshop is self-explanatory and easy to follow for independent learners.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Import an ESD Gun waveform and apply it for transient current source in HFSS Transient and in Circuit designer.
  • Export touchstone file and import it into Circuit designer to be applied by Nexxim transient solver
  • Simulate currents on RLC terminals both in HFSS and Circuit designer.
