Ansys Electronics Desktop Passive RF Circuits

Course Overview

The Ansys Electronics Desktop Passive (AEDT) RF Circuits course demonstrates the Ansys capabilities for modeling and analyzing the passive circuits both in circuit designer and HFSS 3D Layout. This course is designed for intermediate users and includes four modules with workshops that shows the workflows from start to finish. Topics such as Matching Networks and Tuning, Antenna array and stand-alone antenna analysis, Coupler and transmission line design and analysis, and Filter design applying Nuhertz FilterSolutions and analyzing it in AEDT (using Circuit and HFSS 3D Layout) are explored in this course.

Prerequisites

Teaching Method

Lectures and hands-on simulation workshops to develop familiarity and productive skill in designing and analyzing RF circuits using Circuit design and HFSS 3D Layout. Although the course listing is instructor led, the simulation workshops are self-explanatory and easy to follow for independent learners.  A training certificate is issued on completion of the course.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course will be familiar with:

  • Dynamically link an HFSS design into a circuit design and apply Push Excitations from circuit to HFSS design in order to update the excitations and fields.
  • Generate a matching network using lumped elements and apply the tuning features in the circuit design.
  • Generate matching network by applying Smith Tool.
  • Define the EM sub-design in Circuit and set up the analysis.
  • Define the stackup and set up a planar antenna in HFSS 3D Layout.
  • Create stripline transmission lines and synthesize them for desired impedances in Circuit.
  • Set up and analyze the coupler model using linear network analysis in Circuit
  • Work with layout editor in Circuit and generate the layout in HFSS 3D Layout for EM simulation.
  • Create a microstrip filter and synthesize it for the desired frequency response in Nuhertz FilterSolutions.
  • Export the filter from Nuhertz FilterSolutions to Circuit design and HFSS 3D Layout to analyze and optimize it.
