Ansys Fluent Meshing with Watertight Geometry Workflow (Self-paced Learning Available)

Course Overview

In this course you will learn how to generate meshes for CFD simulation using the Watertight Geometry workflow in Ansys Fluent. The guided workflow directs users through a step-by-step process of simple, intuitive inputs, while behind the scenes, Fluent Meshing uses built-in intelligence and automation to create a high quality CFD mesh using its sophisticated meshing technology, which includes the innovative poly-hexcore meshing algorithm, tools for high quality boundary layer mesh generation and parallel meshing. By simplifying the process of mesh generation, the Watertight Geometry workflow enables all users to complete all stages of a CFD simulation, from meshing through to post-processing, entirely within the same software session, in the same single window user environment.

Prerequisite

  • Prior knowledge and usage of Ansys Fluent is required.

Teaching Method

Self-paced videos, with accompanying hands-on tutorials to validate practical knowledge.

Learning Outcome

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Use the Watertight Geometry Meshing Workflow in Ansys Fluent to create high quality CFD Simulation meshes from imported CAD geometry through a succession of intuitive guided workflow tasks.
  • Add and/or remove tasks from the baseline workflow to create customized workflow templates which can be saved and re-used for different geometries in future sessions.
  • Import CAD or mesh geometry and generate high quality surface meshes with the option to add multiple unique local sizing functions for precise control of mesh distribution.
  • Create capping surfaces to define fluid regions when the imported CAD geometry only includes solid parts.
  • Define boundary (prism) layers globally or with custom, localized definition.
  • Generate volume mesh using polyhedra, poly-hexcore, hexcore or tetrahedral meshing algorithms.
  • Reduce meshing time through the application of parallel meshing.
