The integration of ANSYS POLYFLOW 12.1 into the ANSYS Workbench environment opens new opportunities for virtual product design, prototyping and optimization. ANSYS Workbench allows users to sketch out the analysis process where steps such as geometry, meshing, problem setup (Polydata), solver and post-processing are linked together in persistent parametric systems. Using ANSYS DesignModeler or CAD package, parametric geometry can be created and used for multiple ANSYS POLYFLOW analyses with widely varying physics, including new models such as Discrete Ordinates (DO) and Volume of Fluid (VOF) models. Material properties and boundary condition values can be declared in ANSYS POLYFLOW as input parameters; and post-processing values in ANSYS CFD-Post can be identified as output parameters. This approach allows users to automate the analysis process by simply editing a parameter value and updating the entire system, to determine the corresponding output parameters. For example, geometry, boundary conditions or material properties can be linked to velocity and temperature profiles from the solution. In addition, ANSYS DesignXplorer tool can be used to setup automatic Design of Experiments (DOE) and optimization studies.
