Simulation of RC Structure Collapse Due to Earthquake Loading

Under the action of earthquakes, RC structures may undergo from small elastic deformation, cracking to propagation, local fracture and even collapse. Based on ANSYS UPFs, a new element is created to take cracks in concrete into account with Smeared Crack Method. A new material model is also defined to describe hysteresis characters of reinforced concrete under cyclic loading. In the discrete stage, LS-DYNA is used to analyze the structure collapse. By this procedure, the whole collapse process of RC structures can be simulated by using ANSYS.
