Temperature-Dependent BH Curves for Permanent Magnets - Application Brief

Permanent magnets are widely used in motors, generators and many other applications. When an electrical machine is overloaded or experiences a short circuit, irreversible demagnetization may occur due to magnetic field and temperature changes. To model the impact of such temperature changes, the R&D team must consider temperature dependency of nonlinear BH curves for permanent magnets. This model should work in conjunction with the demagnetization model. ANSYS Maxwell provides a general modeling capability in transient finite element analysis (FEA) for accurately evaluating the demagnetization behavior of magnets under temperature changes.
