Optimizing the Lyophilization Process Using CFD

Lyophilization is a freeze-drying process where water is sublimated from a frozen drug product under high vacuum and low heating conditions. Through tight control of the temperature and pressure conditions inside the lyophilization chamber, both the heat and mass transfer to/from the product is controlled. Numerical modeling is used to gain physical insights that experiments are currently unable to provide.
