ANSYS Explicit Dynamics solutions are used to simulate complex and highly nonlinear mechanical and fluid/structure interaction problems. Its approach to material modeling is quite different from the approach that a typical structural analysis takes. In addition to the deviatoric deformation of materials, volume change and material failure are also considered in material modelling. Furthermore, numerical technique such as erosion is used to automatically remove distorted elements before solution is interrupted. This Tips & Tricks Session will highlight the basics of material modeling approach in Explicit Dynamics Analysis.
General approach to model solid and fluid materials in Explicit Dynamics Analysis
How to best pick material models based upon the applications: drop test, high velocity impact, and explosions
How to best model metals, concretes, composites, porous materials, and explosives
