What's New

Ansys 2021 R2 continues to enhance the open architecture of autonomous vehicle (AV) solutions by connecting physics-based sensors to third-party driving simulators. This release includes new capabilities for sensor simulation and asset preparation, as well as an enriched library of assets. You can quickly and easily verify and validate AV sensor configurations, including perception and autonomous driving features, with the driving simulation tool of your choice.

With this latest release, headlamp designers gain new certification tests along with added capabilities for analysis, while our sensor modeling users benefit from significant productivity gains when parameterizing their models and their vehicle configurations. Radar experts are now able to model multi-modes and see micro-Doppler effects.

You will benefit from new NCAP Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Support Systems (LSS) scenarios compliant with physics-based simulation in day and night driving conditions. The new APIs to control the sensor simulation and access raw sensor output will increase productivity through the support of your specific process and engineering tools.

Designed and developed to support the iterative process for cutting-edge systems, this complete solution includes dedicated applications for developing ADAS and autonomous systems. Simulation capabilities reduce the time and cost of physical testing.

Through it all you can benchmark your product’s real-world performance versus virtual test track performance.  Select and customize digital vehicles (cars, trucks or off-road vehicles) from engines to tire levels, to create an accurate multibody vehicle dynamics model. You can also connect your custom sub models (ABS, ESP). Configure any advanced driver assistance system features (AB, LKS), including virtual camera, radar, lidar and ultrasonic sensors, while adding in autonomous capabilities. Define and test the robustness of the system.

Assess vehicle performance by varying vehicle dynamics parameters, driving scenario conditions (such as weather or lighting), or surrounding traffic situations. Perform NCAP rating tests.

Inject accurate raw signals simulated by virtual physics-based sensors for perception in the loop testing. You can share HiL test data with ADAS suppliers to increase system safety and reliability prior to physical prototyping. Get behind the wheel of your virtual vehicle and conduct driver-in-the-loop testing in simulators to physically measure the performance of your AV and ADAS systems early in the design cycle and to asses human interaction and reaction in front of system takeover situation.

The real-time, physics-based solution allows you to simulate virtual prototypes of headlamps within physically realistic scenarios. Perform beam assessment and regulation checks with a wide set of analysis tools to detect, measure and compare any defects in beam patterns. Visualization in false colors facilitates the comparison between different behaviors and light sources — Halogen, Xenon or LED. Measurement grids ease the assessment of homogeneity of light distribution and the aiming wall allows you to check the conformity of the cut-off according to regional regulation.

The solution offers a real-time pixel beam simulation and control mechanism capable of managing pixel-level beam behavior (such as DMD or microLED systems for example). Efficiently develop, iterate and test your intelligent lighting system control software, including using hardware-in-the-loop simulation, with camera sensor injection.
