Learning Outcome

Following successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the underlying technology and control the solution algorithms used to implement nonlinear solutions in ANSYS Mechanical.
  • Describe the three fundamental types of nonlinearities in ANSYS Mechanical: large deflection, connections, and materials.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of restart controls, nonlinear buckling, and mesh nonlinear adaptivity.
  • Recognize and correct the most common causes of non-convergence in nonlinear solutions.
  • Appreciate the importance of model validation and several techniques that may be used to achieve it.
