This teaching package provides STEM Racing advisors with ready-to-use resources for introducing students to fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using Ansys simulation tools. The package includes a highly visual fundamentals slide deck, an Ansys Discovery™ 3D product simulation software case study demonstrating the role of digital prototyping in the STEM Racing design process, and a step-by-step Ansys Fluent® fluid simulation software tutorial for conducting a basic external aerodynamics simulation. Designed to support team instruction and competition preparation, these resources help advisors explain key concepts such as airflow, lift, drag, and aerodynamic performance while introducing students to industry-standard engineering simulation workflows. While developed for STEM Racing, the materials can also support introductory learning in physics, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and engineering design.
Topics covered: Basic Fluid Dynamics | Into to Aerodynamics (lift & drag) | CFD Simulations | Ansys software
