Ansys Minerva simulation and process data management (SPDM) software enhances collaboration and productivity for engineering teams. By integrating simulation with data management, it streamlines workflows and ensures that the latest design data is accessible and traceable. Users of Minerva software can store, share, and retrieve simulation data efficiently, which improves traceability and reduces the risk of errors. The tool facilitates data-driven decision-making while also enabling companies to scale their simulation efforts.

In 2025 R2, several enhancements were made to simplify the process of using Minerva software. These improvements aim to increase productivity, add flexibility and precision, reduce time and effort, and provide more information to help engineers make better decisions. The simulation submission job process now includes the ability to submit batch jobs to the Ansys HPC Platform Services, enabling engineers to use computing resources more efficiently. This improvement eliminates the need to manually select suitable and available resources for each job. User experience enhancements, such as a simplified desktop installer, a form builder, and the Expression Tester feature, help simplify the process and provide a better overall experience. Additionally, connector enhancements offer more information, improving traceability and enabling you to better understand your files.

Streamlining Simulation Job Submissions

Launching large simulations often requires engineers to identify what computer resources are available (either on-premises or on the cloud) and whether they are suitable for this simulation. Minerva 2025 R2 simplifies this process:

  • Engineers can now submit batch jobs through Ansys HPC Platform Services, the recommended system by Ansys for job submission. This platform enables engineers to launch simulation runs across multiple computing resources from a single interface while monitoring progress without the need for new installations. It facilitates efficient use of computing resources and eliminates the need for engineers to manually select a suitable and available resource for each job. (Note that the Ansys Distributed Compute Gateway and Ansys Cloud Direct tools will be deprecated in future releases.)
  • The integration of Minerva software with Ansys HPC Platform Services provides a seamless way for engineers to work with both on-premises HPC clusters and cloud-based resources.

The updates and enhancements to Ansys Minerva 2025 R2 help organizations accelerate time to market with Generic Connector enhancements, an improved user experience, and a simpler way to launch simulations.

Improved User Experience

Minerva 2025 R2 includes several enhancements beneficial to engineers. These new improvements include:

  • New installation UI for Minerva software: A new desktop installer is now available to streamline installations for small teams and single-node setups. The guided interface provides all required options with step-by-step instructions. It eliminates the need to manually configure YAML parameters or use command-line arguments.
  • Form builder enhancements: The form builder now includes new elements such as tables, information sets, images, 3D images, and reusable element groups. These enhancements provide engineers with greater precision and flexibility in form submissions.
  • Expression Tester: Expression Tester is a new tool designed to help engineers validate Mamba expressions before using them in features such as verification plans and forms. This tool saves time, effort, and frustration by preventing the discovery of inaccurate expressions later in the process. Additionally, Expression Tester can dynamically generate expressions to access elements from several types of documents, including forms, parameter documents, and reports. This feature eliminates the need for users to memorize how to construct expressions.

Generic Connector Enhancements

The Generic Connector enables you to easily integrate Minerva software with desktop applications. Providing flexibility to connect legacy systems and custom tools within an open ecosystem, it reduces implementation time and costs compared to building a custom connector. It also standardizes how external data is brought into Minerva software. The new updates and enhancements include:

  • Detailed information about files: The new File Details tab in the Generic Connector's staging window now offers comprehensive information about files in your local working directory. You can easily track changes made to files, including modifications by other users on the server and any resulting conflicts. The tab also provides details about different versions of downloaded files, helping users better understand their downloaded files and related information. Additionally, it simplifies the process of claiming files directly from the File Details tab, enabling users to monitor the claim status of their files on the server.

The Generic Connector enables you to virtually integrate Minerva software with any external tool or data source, with no specialized development required.

  • Enhanced JSON output: New fields have been added to the JSON output of the Generic Connector commands. The “newly_downloaded” field indicates whether an item was recently downloaded or already present in the working directory. The conflict field indicates if an item has conflicts.

Minerva software provides a unified platform that connects simulation workflows, data, and teams across the entire product development life cycle. With an open ecosystem and vendor-neutral approach, organizations retain flexibility while standardizing simulation processes through repeatable workflows and templates. This structured approach to managing simulation data helps companies establish best practices and capture and reuse institutional knowledge.

The updates and enhancements in Minerva 2025 R2 help organizations accelerate time to market with Generic Connector enhancements, UX updates, and digital thread enablement. Learn more about Minerva software.
