Preliminary stats suggest that this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) exceeded expectations in both size and scope. More than 4,300 exhibitors and about 135,000 visitors from 150 countries, regions, and territories were at the Las Vegas show this year — a significant increase over the previous year.
For those who made it to CES, the emphasis on the role technology continues to play in improving every aspect of human experience was on display everywhere. Besides vehicle tech and advanced mobility, the show demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability, digital health, and accessibility and innovation for all. From battery recycling, to digital therapeutics, to more inclusive captioning tech for gaming and e-sports enthusiasts — there was literally something for everyone.
Of course, we were there, along with 600+ mobility exhibitors, ready to share how simulation continues to help innovators solve what was once unsolvable. Thousands of visitors paused at our booth to watch an automotive projection experience narrated by Miss Emma Walsh from the Ansys online docuseries "Driven by Simulation."
The display showcased the power of Ansys simulation to make mobility safer, cleaner and more connected. It also demonstrated the importance of pervasive insights on virtually all aspects of automotive product design and development. Today our software is powering next-level solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous vehicle (AV), software defined vehicle (SDV), and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) development.
Many of our customers also stopped by our booth to talk to our thought leaders, as well as members of the Ansys sales team. During a one-on-one interview, Walt Hearn, SVP of global sales and customer excellence at Ansys spoke with Nasdaq reporter Jill Mallandrino about how our solutions power the innovation that drives human advancement.
"It used to take 60 months to develop an automotive car," shares Hearn. "Today, (OEMs) have to deliver an EV with autonomous features in 24 months. And so really the only way to do that is by leveraging Ansys simulation so that they can test out all these variations in a virtual environment and get their products to market in a timely fashion."
These meet and greets were also a chance for us to reinforce how our simulation solutions are helping customers bring their biggest ideas to life — not just for automotive, but for high tech, digital healthcare, and energy.
Of all the highlights at CES in 2024, artificial intelligence (AI) dominated the conversation. Companies were eager to share how they are harnessing the power of AI in applications that will transform the way we do business for the benefit of all. Mark Palmer, M.D., Ph.D. and Field CTO of healthcare at Ansys was there to share how adding AI capabilities to our extensive software solutions portfolio will help our customers innovate faster.
Ansys SimAI a cloud-enabled, physics-neutral platform, will help users accelerate innovation and reduce time to market. With Ansys SimAI, it will be possible to reliably predict performance of complex simulation scenarios in minutes, rather than hours or days. This newfound capability will lead to more design testing and faster progress (and more innovation, of course). With SimAI, users can train an AI model using simulation results, then make predictively accurate analogous designs.
Despite all the buzz around SimAI, it wasn't the only topic of conversation at the show. Ansys Global Systems Director Tony Karam was also caught on camera discussing the powerful integration of Ansys AVxcelerate Sensors with NVIDIA Drive Sim powered by Omniverse that was recently announced.
AVxcelerate Sensors augments NVIDIA DRIVE Sim’s high-fidelity, scalable 3D environments for scenario generation with Ansys’ predictively accurate physics solvers for camera, lidar, and radar sensors. NVIDIA DRIVE Sim users with an AVxcelerate Sensors license can harness the power of this integrated solution to develop, train, test, and validate the performance of AV perception systems while saving time and cost. The platform also harnesses NVIDIA’s high-performance GPU capabilities and AI, powering rapid prototyping and efficient algorithm refinement of AVs.
During the show, some of our customers were also identified as CES 2024 Innovation Awards honorees. The CES Innovation Awards program is an annual competition that honors outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products. Two levels of honorees are recognized among product categories: Honorees and Best of Innovation. "Honorees" are recognized for having the top scoring product in their particular category, while "Best of Innovation" recipients are identified as being the best of the best across all categories.
