Preeti Gupta

I have been at Ansys since 2011, coming in through the acquisition of Apache Design Solutions. In my engineering career of over 25 years, I have had the opportunity to perform varied roles in product engineering, chip design, applications engineering, technical marketing, and product management — in startups and large companies — each experience enriching and valuable.

How I’d Explain My Job to a Kindergartener

Preeti Gupta

I work with brilliant colleagues who make your electronics smart and magical — including gaming devices, laptops, smartphones — even your car! Although I must mention that my children, when younger, would tell me my job is to “type on my laptop and talk to people!”

What I Actually Do

My team and I are responsible for the product management of semiconductor products. Our products are trusted by semiconductor design companies worldwide to simulate their leading-edge designs for power, noise, and reliability — including multiphysics electrothermal analyses for advanced multi-die structures.

Imagine the complexity of a software that can run a simulation to confirm that an adequate power supply is reaching every single one of the hundreds of billions of transistors on a semiconductor chip — this is what Ansys RedHawk-SC power integrity signoff platform for digital and 3D integrated circuits (3D-IC) does!

Why I Choose Ansys

The inspirational executive leadership and vision for technical excellence, along with an earnest desire to give back to the community; a high-performance culture; and above all, fantastic colleagues that I have the privilege to work with and learn from on a daily basis.

My Best Advice

Embrace challenges. The hardest times will often also be the periods of immense growth — intellectually and otherwise.

Getting Involved

I had the opportunity to co-lead the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) employee resource group (ERG) for our semiconductor business unit for a year. I’m very thankful for this opportunity, as it certainly gave me a higher sense of satisfaction and purpose beyond my daily responsibilities.

The focus for our ERG in its inception year was on awareness and initiating the dialogue — particularly women in technology. We connected and exchanged ideas with colleagues both within and outside our business unit and outside of Ansys. It was rewarding to see how many of us — across genders — are passionate about bringing in positive change. As we ended the year, the team recommended the “Girls Who Code” Summer Immersion Program as an initiative Ansys should support. We compiled interviewing best practices that encourage diversity; shared some best practices to consider with HR; and, most importantly, raised our collective consciousness and commitment to DE&I!

What You Might Not Know

I went to 11 different schools growing up, and three of them were in my senior year of high school. One could say I know a thing or two about change!
