How atoms are arranged within materials has a profound impact on their properties and thus their performance. Because of this, crystallography and crystal defects are an integral part of introductory materials science and engineering courses. Due to the inherently complex nature of visualizing these 3D atomic structures, this can be a pain point for students in their early years of study.
This package utilizes information from Ansys Granta EduPack™ teaching software for materials education and a variety of visuals to explain the basic concepts of crystallography and crystal defects. A variety of resources are included to allow for flexibility in curriculum integration.
Below is a list of the different resource components available in the package download file.
*solution guides for exercises, quizzes, microprojects, and concept maps available to Instructors Only upon email request
