Overview

The Fluent GPU Solver is uniquely suited to aeroacoustics simulation in that it combines a fast, unsteady, compressible flow solver (including appropriate scale-resolving turbulence models) with acoustics-specific models, boundary conditions, and post-processing. At the current release (2026 R1), the GPU solver has many features that make it equivalent to the Fluent CPU solver, but with the advantage that transient calculations can be up to, and order of magnitude faster, using widely available GPUs.

What attendees will learn

This webinar will explore the features available for aeroacoustics modeling in the Fluent GPU solver at 2026 R1 with use case examples. Topics include:

  • Introduction to aeroacoustics
  • Computation Aeroacoustics (CAA) using direct CFD modeling
  • Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings (FW-H) model using the acoustic analogy
  • Boundary conditions and special models
  • Non-reflecting boundary conditions for compressible flows
  • Sponge layer modeling
  • Implementation of Proudman’s Formula for steady-state modeling
  • Example cases
  • Basic external flows
  • Fan modeling
  • Industrial noise applications
