Ansys LS-DYNA can perform simulations of mechanisms involving joints and articulations subjected to impacts (whether from drops or collisions). It can utilize joints and kinematic links, and offers a wide choice of contact formulations to easily and automatically take into account interactions between all components in the model. When this is combined with LS-DYNA’s fast and efficient explicit solver scheme, it gives you unrivalled simulation capabilities to study situations that could not be solved using implicit FEA methods.
ANSYS also offers dedicated LS-DYNA HPC licensing so you can distribute your models across multiple cores or machines for faster turnaround times.
ANSYS Workbench Integration
Ansys Workbench LS-DYNA makes it easy for engineers of any level of experience to perform simulations. It integrates the LS-DYNA solver into the Workbench environment, and therefore gains all the benefits of a standard Ansys Mechanical workflow. You no longer need to learn a new interface to use the product, and can instead focus on producing accurate results in a short turnaround time.
Ansys Workbench LS-DYNA combines the power of the standard LS-DYNA solver with pre-processing and post-processing tools available in the Ansys Mechanical environment. This means that it is also integrated with the Ansys Spaceclaim Direct Modeler geometry tool, the Ansys Parameter Manager and the design exploration software, so you can perform complete parametric studies on CAD geometry that can be cleaned up to the standards required for explicit analyses.
Element and Contact Combinations
Ansys LS-Dyna gives you a wide range of low- and high-order element formulations in solids, shells and beams. These can be applied on a per-part basis though the Ansys Mechanical interface, so you can place high-fidelity elements only in the areas where they are necessary.
LS-DYNA’s extensive range of contact options enable automatic contact detection between solids, shells and beams, while taking into account beam cross sections and shell thicknesses. Contact can be detected between separate parts, within parts and within individual elements, so simple and robust contact can occur throughout the model.
