Overview
Selecting materials for complex components often involves balancing numerous competing requirements. A consumer electronics enclosure, for example, must meet aesthetic standards, provide the right tactile feel, withstand thermal cycling, offer electromagnetic shielding, be cost-effective to manufacture and increasingly meet sustainability targets. No single material excels at everything, so systematic trade-off analysis is essential.
In this webinar, we will use Ansys Granta Selector to work through a material selection process with competing requirements. We will define the key requirements across mechanical performance, thermal performance, processing and durability, then systematically narrow down candidates from thousands of possibilities. We will demonstrate how to visualize trade-offs, compare shortlisted materials and document the rationale for selection decisions.
We will also explore the wide range of materials data in Ansys Granta Selector, including metals, plastics and composites, and show how selected materials can be transferred to simulation workflows.
