I actually began my career in accounting. I worked as a state auditor for a school district, but it wasn’t for me — it was too boring! After obtaining my degree in computer science, I spent roughly 14 years at a company called Harbison Walker. I held several positions before being promoted to IT manager of the Linux, Windows, and Network team. Then I spent two years as IT director at a company called Resco, which was a direct competitor. Afterwards, I worked for one year at PNC Bank as a contractor on their Business Continuity team, before spending roughly four years as senior IT manager at a company called Omnicell. In July of 2020, I joined the network team at Ansys.
I work with computers and technology.
My role as the IT manager of the network team, Linux/Windows operating systems, and data center strategy is really focused on the project management and implementation of new technologies that make everyone’s jobs easier at Ansys. For example, we recently architected a more efficient connection from our software housed at Ansys-owned offices to the cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS, Oracle, Google, etc.).
I light up when someone asks me what I do, and I get to tell them I work at Ansys. I take pride in working at a technology company that is making the world better.
My teams’ role is to support the engineers that are building our products, so it makes me feel good about my impact here at Ansys. We directly support the business by providing IT related systems, resources, and automation to aid the technology to perform better.
My favorite Ansys value is “Be Courageous.” I think in IT and technology you have to take chances. You are always looking for new technologies to make things operate better and more efficiently. And sometimes things fail but you learn to take that leap and keep trying.
Always be on the lookout for ways you can innovate within your department. Be patient. There’s a lot to learn.
I’m very involved with my kids and their activities. When my daughters were both in high school, I sat on the board of their competition band and color guard programs. My oldest daughter is now in her first year of college but my youngest is still involved so I am there to support her.
I make my own wine. I exercise in some fashion every day. I’m a big NFL football fan.
