Rising Bubble Simulation Using the VOF Model in Ansys Fluent Software

This study numerically simulates a single air bubble rising in water, acetone, and glycerin using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) model in Ansys Fluent® fluid simulation software. Modeling transient multiphase flow, the simulation captures bubble deformation, rise velocity, and fluid interactions while accounting for surface tension and buoyancy. Results demonstrate the bubble deformation and breaking apart during this rise which was captured accurately by the VOF model. Details on fundamental concepts such as surface tension and buoyancy are reflected in the simulation are also covered.
