Electrical Machines Fundamentals: Electromotive Force Analysis using Ansys Maxwell Software
The aim of this module is to support the introduction of electromotive force (EMF) through the classic example of a rotating loop in a magnetic field. EMF is a fundamental principle behind the operation of most electrical machines, including generators and motors. The example in this resource helps explain how a changing magnetic field can induce an EMF in a wire loop. The rotation of the magnets creates a changing, homogeneous magnetic field through the wire loop area and induces an EMF in the loop. This is a fundamental example that can be used in early electromagnetics courses to understand the phenomenon, generate CAD models, and build familiarity with electromechanical simulations. The resource contains several different files that cover the theory as a foundation, followed by tutorials to create an example in the Ansys Maxwell® tool, an advanced electromagnetic field solver.
