Simulating Racing Sailboats with ANSYS - Video

The ZYZ Sailing Team is a organism of the University of Palermo (Italy). Under the supervision of their Professors the students deal with designing and building racing sailboats. The Team has the typical structure of a work group engaged in sports competition events, which not only involve expert computer students who know how to operate CAD, FEM or CFD but even those students who are willing to give life to the project through manual work. The team launched LED (Linen Epoxy Dinghy), a 4,6 meter Skiff, designed with ANSYS Mechanical. It is entirely made with a sandwich of unidirectional flax fibers and cork while the internal structure is made with marine plywood.
