ANSYS LS-DYNA

ANSYS LS-DYNA software can be used with the traditional ANSYS graphical user interface (GUI) and ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL) or with the ANSYS Workbench export capability. The technology is the most popular time-tested explicit solver for relatively slow-speed impact-related analysis. APDL and ANSYS Workbench interfaces isolate the user from the complex input requirements of this sophisticated solver. ANSYS LS-DYNA is the result of a collaborative effort between ANSYS and Livermore Software Technology Corporation. First introduced in 1996, ANSYS LS-DYNA capabilities have helped thousands of customers in numerous industries resolve highly intricate design issues.

Features

Limited-duration events (such as collisions and blade containment) and large, permanent deformations (within the stamping and forming industries) present engineers with unique simulation challenges. The powerful pairing of the ANSYS and LS-DYNA solvers creates a product that helps engineers understand the elaborate combinations of nonlinear phenomena found in the automotive industry, metal forging, stamping and catastrophic failures. Features include:

Best of Class Solver Technologies
ANSYS LS-DYNA meets the challenges of complex explicit simulation by fusing LSTC’s LS-DYNA explicit dynamic solver technology with the user friendly, powerful pre-processing power of APDL and ANSYS Workbench

ANSYS Workbench Based Preprocessing
Two user environment options exist at ANSYS 12 for ANSYS LS-DYNA users

Native CAD Import and Robust Meshing
Bi-directional CAD connectivity and automatic meshing with advanced options

Add-On Modules
Modules provide parallel processing, geometry editing, robust design and optimization

Simulation Examples

Bird Strike
Bird ingested into jet engine, neither of which benefit from the experience

Metal Forming

Metal Forming
Automotive suspension lower a-arm formed from a piece of sheet steel
