For decades, Ansys Materials solutions have helped hundreds of companies centralize their materials information, systematically select the best materials, leverage data to make informed materials decisions, and connect materials information and data to other enterprise systems.

By fostering a culture of innovation and continuously improving based on customer feedback, the Ansys Materials product collection and Ansys Granta materials information, selection, and data management products have enabled our customers to achieve significant savings. They have saved millions in efficiency costs, streamlined their materials data workflows, drastically reduced duplicate materials testing, and made it easier for product and simulation engineers to access accurate material data for optimal performance.

Ansys 2025 R2 introduces multiple enhancements that simplify connections across the simulation digital thread, making them easier, more reliable, and more traceable. This release features improvements for materials assignments from computer-aided design (CAD) to computer-aided engineering (CAE), more powerful selection tools, and new sustainability-focused data, making it easier for engineers to maximize the value of their materials data with minimal effort. With new materials data for tapes and adhesives, a new database of commercially available composite materials, and new datasets for metal forming applications, Ansys Granta 2025 R2 empowers engineers to make data-driven decisions based on accurate data.

Simplified Access to Materials Data

Centralizing materials information and storing it in a reliable, traceable way is only half the story. To truly make the most of your materials information, making it accessible to your wider business is key in unlocking efficiencies across product development, simulation, manufacturing, and procurement.

In 2025 R2, a number of improvements have been developed to make connections between enterprise systems simpler and more transparent:

  • CAD-to-CAE material assignments: The Ansys Granta Materials Intelligence (MI) Materials Gateway interface has been improved to make information more easily accessible when assigning materials for simulations directly inside the CAD system.
  • Improvements for PTC users: PTC Creo and Windchill users can now enjoy an enhanced integration experience that saves them time and effort. Creo users can assign colors directly inside the Granta MI Materials Gateway for rendering the body or part within the Creo interface, making it easier to visualize materials information. Windchill users can enjoy automatic logins in their Granta MI Materials Gateway, with their enterprise (SAML SSO) credentials.
  • Material assignments for NX-to-ANSA workflow: Engineers can now more easily transfer Granta material assignments from NX to ANSA, reducing the number of clicks required and saving time and effort.
  • Ansys Granta Selector software within the Ansys Automated Installer: Ansys Granta Selector software is now part of the main Ansys Automated Installer to facilitate a straightforward installation experience alongside other Ansys products. There is no need to search, select, and download separate executable files.

The updates in Ansys Granta 2025 R2 help organizations accelerate time to market with digital thread enhancements; a simpler, more powerful user experience; and high-quality, simulation-ready reference data.

Making Engineering Easier

An easy-to-use system can lead to higher productivity and efficiency, and it can facilitate wider adoption across the enterprise. Granta 2025 R2 features numerous enhancements that make the user experience simpler.

Simulation-Ready Reference Data

High-quality data can be hard to find. At Ansys, we take pride in offering our customers some of the best material datasets available. This is made possible through our extensive partnerships with leading material and data providers anas well as our dedicated data team, which carefully curates the information to ensure data accuracy and makes these datasets readily accessible for use with simulation tools.

In 2025 R2, our materials datasets have grown substantially and now include:

  • A dataset for metal-forming applications: New and enhanced simulation-ready sheet steels data, including various grades from voestalpine Stahl GmbH. The new data includes elasticity, plasticity and metal forming, with new material card exporters to Ansys LS-DYNA software.
  • New tapes and adhesives data: New and updated simulation-ready data from Kuraray and 3M™ industrial tapes and adhesives.
  • A new database for composite materials: A new database containing material property information on commercially available composite materials and constituent parts is now available, covering resins, fibers, lamina, and laminates. Properties include physical, mechanical, impact, thermal, and electromagnetic properties.
  • Miscellaneous updates to materials records: There are more than 5,800 new records in multiple tables across our Ansys MaterialUniverse database of materials and the JAHM library. These new materials include encapsulants, thermal interface materials, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, glasses, polymers, and alloys.
