Customers are hitting the limits of their workstations and servers. To alleviate these issues, we have created numerous Intel®-powered HPC solutions to provide Ansys and our customers an opportunity to scale compute power and handle the growing demand for high-quality, accurate, accelerated multiphysics simulation and visualization.
Intel® Scalable System Framework (Intel® SSF) overcomes common HPC obstacles concerning memory, fabric, storage, and power. It provides a wide range of breakthrough technologies. When new open source components are released, testing time for applications is dramatically reduced.
The new Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v4 product family is ideal for next-generation application workloads. Higher core counts, enhanced virtualization capabilities, and increased memory bandwidth provides the resources that are necessary to drive improvements in performance across a wide range of workloads.
Ansys Mechanical 17.0 has improved scalability to leverage more cores and achieve higher performance on the newest Intel® Xeon® processors. With higher core counts and more on-board memory, users can employ higher fidelity models to achieve more accurate and detailed results.
“ANSYS helps customers turn their design concepts into successful, innovative products. The combination of ANSYS Mechanical software running on the Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2697 v4 and taking advantage of both the Intel® Solid State Drive and the Intel® AVX2 really boosted performance to amazing levels compared to the previous generation processors.
Thanks to Intel® Omni-Path Architecture (Intel® OPA) and the latest Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v4 product family, ANSYS Fluent is able to achieve performance levels beyond our expectations. Its unrivaled performance enables our customers to simulate higher-fidelity models without having to expand their cluster nodes.”

Intel® Omni-Path Architecture (Intel® OPA) is a powerful low latency communications interface specifically designed for HPC. Coupled with Intel® MPI, and utilizing standard Fluent runtime options to access TMI, Fluent is ready and proven for out-of-the-box performance on Intel OPA-ready clusters. Intel® HPC Orchestrator, part of the Intel SSF platform, simplifies the integration, testing, and validation of the HPC stack.
The Intel® Xeon® E5-2699 v4 provides higher Fluent performance compared to the previous generation processor, resulting in faster turn-around times. Benefitting from Intel® MPI, Fluent scales out to fully embrace available server cores. This better performance increase allows for higher fidelity simulations and higher quality flow visualizations. Coupled with the Ansys Workbench for parametric studies, design engineers can cover more design space in the product design cycle.
With the Intel®-based Ansys solutions, customers can look at many more design variables and therefore deliver products to the market in a faster time with higher quality and lower cost. They can do many more iterations and compress the product development process to get products to market at a much high quality and a much faster rate. This is where Ansys and Intel HPC delivers the most value.
