Selection Case Study: Electro-Mechanical Applications
This collection of case studies provides four examples of materials selection for electro-mechanical applications: (i) materials for bus-bars, (ii) windings for high-powered magnets, (iii) materials for relay arms, and (iv) windings for high-speed electric motors. All case studies include background information and further reading as well as taking a student through the process of determining constraints and objectives and translating them in to performance indices and instructions that Granta EduPack can understand. They are based on case studies provided in the book Materials Selection for Mechanical Design (Ashby).
