Getting Started with Ansys Fluent for Biomedical Engineering

Join us for an upcoming webinar where we’ll walk through how to model blood flow in an artery using Ansys Discovery and Ansys Fluent. You’ll learn how to build 3D carotid artery geometries, set up pulsatile flow simulations, and analyze key hemodynamic results. We’ll also highlight where to find biomedical engineering learning resources and the Academic Healthcare SimLab app.

Overview

In this webinar, you will learn how to use Ansys Fluent and Ansys Discovery to model blood flow through an artery. You’ll follow step-by-step instructions to create 3D carotid artery geometries in Discovery—including stenosis regions—and then seamlessly transition into Fluent to set up and solve pulsatile blood flow simulations using the Carreau non-Newtonian model. The session covers time-dependent setup for realistic pulsatile conditions and post-processing techniques to evaluate key hemodynamic parameters such as pressure, velocity, and wall shear stress. You’ll also see where to access biomedical engineering resources on the Ansys Innovation Space and Ansys Education Resources, including the Academic Healthcare SimLab app for rapid cardiovascular modeling workflows.
