Overview

PWM-induced losses are often underestimated, yet they can have a major impact on electric machine performance, thermal behavior, and overall system efficiency. In this webinar, we will show how these effects can be brought much earlier into the design process through a practical workflow combining Ansys Motor-CAD and Ansys Maxwell.

The session will walk through an end-to-end approach for building efficiency maps that account for losses under pulse width modulation (PWM) operation, from defining operating points and deriving the required voltage conditions to evaluating additional losses introduced by PWM switching. It will also show how the workflow can be automated using PyMotorCAD and PyAEDT, helping reduce manual effort while improving consistency across studies.

What Attendees Will Learn

  • Build efficiency maps that accurately account for PWM-induced losses
  • Evaluate the impact of PWM switching on machine performance
  • Make better early-stage system design decisions by accounting for PWM-induced losses
  • Automate workflows with PyMotorCAD and PyAEDT
  • Connect Motor-CAD and Maxwell in a streamlined multiphysics workflow
